Helmets

TLDR

We provide a full-face or open-face helmet with every scooter rental. Helmets must meet Queensland safety laws and be worn at all times when riding. Follow our guide to choose, wear, and maintain your helmet correctly.

Helmets

A helmet is the most important piece of safety gear for scooter riders. We supply either a full-face or open-face helmet with your rental to help keep you safe and compliant with Queensland regulations.

Types of Helmets We Provide

1. Full-Face Helmet

  • Covers your entire head, including your chin and face
  • Offers maximum protection in an accident
  • Best for long rides and all-weather conditions

2. Open-Face Helmet

  • Covers the top, sides, and back of your head but leaves your face open
  • Allows for better airflow and wider visibility
  • Commonly used for short city trips

How to Wear a Helmet Properly

  • Choose the Right Size: It should be snug but not uncomfortable
  • Correct Positioning: Front of the helmet should sit just above your eyebrows
  • Fasten the Chin Strap: Tight enough that only two fingers can fit underneath
  • Check for Movement: Shake your head gently; the helmet should stay in place
  • Ensure Visibility: Keep the visor clean and scratch-free

Legal Requirements in Queensland

  • Helmets must meet AS/NZS 1698 or ECE 22.05 standards
  • Must be worn on public roads at all times
  • Chin strap must be securely fastened while riding
  • Passengers must also wear an approved helmet
  • Non-compliance may result in fines or penalties

Failure to comply with helmet laws may result in fines and penalties.

Helmet Safety & Security Tips

  • Inspect for damage like cracks or loose padding regularly
  • Store in a safe, dry place when not in use
  • Avoid dropping the helmet—it may affect its protection
  • Replace it after any crash or every 3–5 years
