TLDR

Before returning your scooter, follow this checklist to avoid extra charges, delays, or issues. Top up fuel, clean the vehicle, check servicing, remove personal items, and return all keys separately.

Overview

To make your vehicle return quick and hassle-free, we’ve prepared a simple checklist. Completing these steps helps ensure a smooth handover and protects you from unnecessary cleaning or damage fees.

This guide applies to all Motion Rental customers returning a scooter at the end of their subscription or rental period.

Vehicle Return Checklist

Use this checklist before returning your vehicle:

Fuel & Fluids

  • Top up the fuel tank to the same level it was at when you received the scooter.
  • Check coolant and oil levels (if you’ve had the scooter for a longer term or if it’s due for service).

Clean & Tidy

  • Wipe down the scooter’s exterior (no need for professional detailing — just remove dirt and heavy grime).
  • Vacuum and wipe underseat storage.
  • Remove all personal items from storage compartments, glove box, and under the seat.
  • Check for rubbish or debris inside any compartments or pockets.

Accessories & Keys

  • Remove any toll tags or personal accessories (like phone mounts or seat covers).
  • Take all your keys off the keychain — only return the rental key(s).
  • Ensure the keys are working and undamaged.

Tyres & Pressure

  • Check tyre pressure and adjust to recommended levels (see the Tyre Size Guide if unsure).
  • Check for punctures or obvious damage — report if found.

Servicing

  • Check if the vehicle is due for a service based on your mileage or the return date.
  • Complete the service before return if it falls due during your rental.
  • Ensure any overdue maintenance is reported or completed.

General Condition

  • Check for scratches, cracks, or missing parts. Report anything new.
  • Make sure all lights, brakes, and indicators are working properly.
  • Charge the battery if the vehicle has been idle for a while before return.
  • Take clear photos of the scooter before return (optional but recommended for your own records).

Final Notes

Returning your vehicle in good condition helps you avoid admin fees, cleaning fees, servicing charges, or penalties for damage. If you’re unsure about any part of this checklist or your vehicle is due for service, please let us know ahead of your return.

We recommend completing the checklist at least 7 days before your scheduled return to allow time for anything that might need fixing or cleaning.
