Return checklist

Check belongings, accessories, vehicle condition, and handover details before returning your rental vehicle.

Return your vehicle without delays

Use this checklist before handover so your return goes smoothly. A few minutes of preparation helps you avoid missing-item charges, inspection delays, and confusion about the vehicle’s condition at return time.

Return the vehicle at the agreed time and location unless Motion Rental approves a change first. Before handover, remove your belongings, return all keys and included extras, check the vehicle’s condition, and make sure it is ready for inspection. If anything is missing, damaged, or your plans change, contact Motion Rental before your scheduled return.

Before handover

Complete these checks before you meet Motion Rental or leave the vehicle for return. The goal is simple: return the same vehicle, with the same included items, in a condition that is ready for inspection.

Do a final walk-around before handover. That last check often catches personal items, loose accessories, and small condition issues that would otherwise slow down the return.

If keys, chargers, helmets, locks, bags, or other included items are missing at return, additional charges may apply. The same applies if the vehicle cannot be inspected properly because required items are not returned with it.

Prepare on return day

A smooth return usually comes down to timing and readiness. Do these checks shortly before the scheduled handover so the vehicle and all included items are together and easy to inspect.

Get everything in one place

Gather every item that came with the rental before you leave for the return location or meet the Motion Rental team. This includes obvious items like keys and helmets, but also smaller items such as chargers, locks, mounts, delivery bags, or access devices.

If you used storage compartments, bags, or boxes during the rental, check them again before handover. Small personal items are often left behind during a rushed return.

Check the vehicle condition

Walk around the vehicle and look for anything that should be raised during inspection. If you noticed damage, a puncture, a warning light, or any missing part during your rental, mention it clearly at return instead of assuming it will be obvious.

Photos can help if there is any later question about return condition. Take clear pictures in good light and include the main sides of the vehicle plus any accessories returned with it.

Confirm the return plan

Return the vehicle at the agreed location and time unless Motion Rental has approved a different arrangement. If your plan changes, contact Motion Rental before your scheduled return time so the team can confirm what to do next.

If you expect a delay or need to return to a different location, arrange it in advance. Early notice makes it easier to avoid missed handovers and unnecessary return issues.

Inspection notes that help avoid disputes

Most return problems are caused by missing items, unclear handover timing, or uncertainty about the vehicle’s condition at the time of return. A complete and well-documented handover reduces that risk.

Bring back all items that were issued with the vehicle, keep them together, and make sure the vehicle is easy to inspect. If anything is damaged, missing, or not working as expected, say so during return instead of leaving it to be discovered later.

If Motion Rental gives you specific return instructions for your booking, follow those instructions even if your normal routine is different. Booking-specific return arrangements take priority over general guidance on this page.
